During yesterday’s scheduled press conference at his Florida home Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump made several false claims and went on increasingly bizarre rants.
The press conference occurred as current Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are on a tour of battleground states and are seeing enormous crowds at every stop.
One of the many false claims he told during the press conference was about the size of his rallies in South Carolina and Alabama.
“I have hundreds of thousands of people. In South Carolina, I had 88,000 people. In Alabama, I had 68,000. Nobody says that,” he declared.
Not only is this statement wildly untrue, but Williams-Brice stadium has a max capacity of 80,172 people, which is about 8,000 people less than what Trump said.
Trump also appeared to not be referencing his rally but rather his appearance at the annual South Carolina vs Clemson game.
During his appearance at the football game, Trump did not speak; he merely stood on the field next to Governor Henry McMaster and waved at the crowd and the student section.
His appearance at the game was received with mixed reviews: he was greeted with a mixture of applause and boos when he came onto the field.
USC’s student newspaper, The Daily Gamecock, published an opinion piece decrying Trump’s appearance.
Opinion writer Morgan Dunn said that Williams-Brice Stadium should be a safe place to celebrate.
“It is safe to say that Williams-Brice Stadium is a place where students can celebrate their school together in a positive and uplifting way. The negative attention that this matter brought impaired the atmosphere of the stadium,” Dunn said.
Dunn also said that Trump’s appearance made those in attendance uncomfortable.
“It is difficult to find a place where people can gather together to celebrate something. A political figure entering this setting disrupts the atmosphere, and it often makes other people uncomfortable,” she wrote.
Clemson’s student newspaper, The Tiger did not release an opinion piece about Trump’s appearance at the Palmetto Bowl game.
What’s weird is I thought it had 88 as well. Thanks for the info. You’re in fact very correct. He’s such a pos
