This Election is Now in the Hands of The Vice President. No, not Kamala.

Examining the importance of choosing Tim Walz for VP

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about how the process of replacing Joe Biden should shake out. This was before the party coalesced around Vice President Kamala Harris, and she officially secured the Democratic nomination. For a reminder, I wrote this: 

For what it's worth my pick for the new presidential nominee is Kamala Harris and rightfully so because she is the current VP. Skipping her would essentially be a slap in the face to Black Americans as well as women everywhere. Doing so would also fuel the crazy DEI claims about her not being qualified but I digress. This is the reason that the choice for the new Democratic Vice President will be extremely consequential. This will arguably go down in history as the time the Democrats chose the right person to unify the party or send us further into division.

Fast forward to today, and we have our new vice presidential pick in Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. So who is Governor Walz and how does he shape up to being arguably the most important VP candidate in history? Let's examine.

Walz is currently in his second term as Minnesota governor and is the chair of the Democratic Governors Association. Walz first ran for governor in 2018 and easily won reelection in 2022 with 52 percent of the vote. In 2022, the Democrats won narrow control of both the State House and Senate. This allowed Walz to sign into law programs such as free lunch for public school students, Medicaid expansion, codifying women's reproductive rights, marijuana legalization, gun safety laws, paid family leave, and protections for workers who choose to unionize to name  a few.

Before running for Governor, he served 12 years in Congress. He flipped his rural district in 2006, a seat that a Democrat had not won in over 100 years. Before entering politics, Walz was a high school history teacher, football coach, and served in the Army National Guard, reaching the rank of Command sergeant major.

So what does all of this mean? Freaking rockstar choice! That's what this means. It means Kamala Harris made the best choice to save America from the wannabe dictator Donald Trump.

Tim Walz is already being hailed as “America's Dad” and the “Fun Uncle” and rightfully so. I mean the guy can fix your car, coach a winning football team, play catch with you, teach you a social studies lesson, hunt for dinner, tell you a dad joke, and save America all in one day. The election is now in the safe hands of our Vice President and I couldn't be more thankful.
