State Rep. Heather Bauer (D-Columbia) announced yesterday that she intends to file articles of impeachment against South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis. This motion comes on the heels after the results of an independent audit showed that most of the missing $1.8 billion never existed in the first place and there is no trace of the $200 million in interest Loftis said the money allegedly generated.
Bauer was joined in this motion by state Senators Ed Sutton (D-North Charleston) and Larry Grooms (R-Bonneau).
In a post made on her Facebook, Bauer said Loftis “mislead” the public and was “not honest” when he came before the Senate last session and said the $1.8 billion was indeed real.
