Democrats Owe Dean Phillips an Apology

Congressman Phillips, even though I was not one of the individuals who criticized you, ignored you, and shunned you, I will still apologize on behalf of the others who did.

Dean Phillips, the U.S. representative from Minnesota's 3rd congressional district, announced his campaign for the 2024 United States presidential election on October 27, 2023, and almost immediately was met with the deafening silence of the political apparatus.

From the very beginning, Congressman Phillips was considered a long shot, which he was well aware of. He knew that he was going to be met with disdain. Representative Bennie Thompson called Congressman Phillips' decision to campaign in New Hampshire “‘disrespectful' to voters of color.” He was left off ballots in many of the states. Primaries were canceled and there was all but a media blackout surrounding the sitting Congressman.
