Over the past few days, Nancy Mace has amplified debunked claims about Haitian immigrants, which have now contributed to a bomb threat targeting schools in Springfield, Ohio.
The bomb threats, which used hateful language directed at the Haitian community, came after former President Donald Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance falsely claimed immigrants were "eating pets" in the area—a narrative that has since been discredited by local officials.
Mace, who shared the false claims, posted a selfie with her cat on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, "Come and take him @KamalaHarris," and circulated an AI-generated image of Trump fleeing a group of Black individuals while carrying a cat. Despite the backlash and the posts being based on misinformation, Mace has yet to take them down.
While Springfield authorities investigate the threats, Mace has remained silent on the bomb scare. Instead, she took to social media again to push her narrative of immigrant violence. In an op-ed she shared within minutes of the bomb threat news, she highlighted cases involving Laken Riley, Jocelyn Hungary, and Rachel Morin, with the caption, "While the left tries to convince you illegal aliens are harmless, the tragic stories of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Hungary, and Rachel Morin tell a very different story."
Despite the story being totally debunked, all of these posts are still up.
Nancy clearly can’t get enough xenophobia in a day, even if it is at the expense of immigrants themselves and the families of the victims she named, many of whom have asked that their loved ones’ deaths stop being politicized.
It sure seems like yet another example of Nancy Mace choosing when to care about certain issues for her own personal political gain. While her op-ed voices support for the "Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act" while having previously voted against the Violence Against Women Act, a key federal protection for survivors of domestic violence.
The bomb threats in Springfield, which have forced school evacuations, should only intensify the spotlight on Mace’s rhetoric, and should call into question whether her political priorities are meant to amplify her own fame or to actually protect Americans.
Nancy Mace is an embarrassment to our state and our country. Let's make her go away. Let's Vote her out.
Nancy Mace - the poster child for gerrymandering so your GOP elected congressperson can do or say anything they want without personal repercussions…
